Wisdom teeth usually erupt between the ages of 17 and 25. Wisdom teeth often fail to erupt normally (impacted) due to a lack of sufficient space. Angled wisdom teeth can squeeze and damage neighboring teeth, and cause dental crowding. Only a small number of people have wisdom teeth that erupt fully and upright. In addition, because wisdom teeth are located at the very back of the dental arch, they are difficult to clean, often leading to bad breath, inflammation, swelling, and pain of the periodontal tissue, and in severe cases, jaw swelling or even difficulty opening the mouth.

  When wisdom teeth cause pain or other complications, extraction is usually recommended. Impacted wisdom teeth that do not cause symptoms are also recommended to be removed as a preventive measure. It is best to extract wisdom teeth when they have just erupted: first, to prevent continued eruption from affecting neighboring teeth; second, because younger people recover faster after extraction.   Healthy.

Angular partial impaction
Partially erupted from the alveolar bone and growing tilted toward the neighboring tooth. Food and bacteria can easily hide in the tooth gaps, making it difficult to clean, which easily leads to tooth decay and painful gum inflammation, known as pericoronitis.

Angular complete impaction
Completely buried under the bone, fully impacted. Growing tilted toward the adjacent tooth, which may squeeze and damage it.

Horizontal complete impaction
Completely buried under the bone, fully impacted. Growing at a right angle to the adjacent tooth, as if “lying down” in the jawbone.
