Since childhood, the patient has felt that their teeth were crowded and misaligned, making food impaction common and their smile unattractive. The patient also has a habit of mouth breathing and snoring during sleep at night, and came for a consultation to see if orthodontic treatment could improve the teeth crowding and breathing obstruction.

Treatment Plan:

After analyzing the patient's lateral cephalometric radiograph, the doctor found inconsistency between the upper and lower jaws, with mandibular overdevelopment. Meanwhile, the tongue position was abnormal, and the hyoid bone was positioned lower. The posterior occlusion was abnormal, requiring distalization of the mandibular molars. Treatment plan: Fixed orthodontics will be used, combined with MAS micro-implants to distalize the mandibular molars, creating space for aligning the lower anterior teeth while improving the posterior occlusion. Camouflage treatment of the lower anterior teeth can improve the forward position of the mandible caused by skeletal issues. Simultaneously, myofunctional training will be performed to establish a normal tongue position, thereby improving mouth breathing and snoring symptoms.
 

Treatment Results:

As can be seen, the anterior smile line has improved significantly, and the entire lower face appears softer and more natural. The buccal corridor ratio is more appropriate. The exposure of the upper anterior teeth when smiling is perfect. The patient reported that snoring has significantly improved, food impaction is no longer an issue after resolving the crowding of the lower anterior teeth, and the chin profile has retracted slightly, looking more natural.
