Chief Complaint:
The parents felt that the child's facial profile was quite protrusive, their lips could not close properly when relaxed, and the chin was retrusive, which greatly affected their appearance. The child also had a habit of mouth breathing when sleeping at night.

Treatment Plan:
After measuring the patient's lateral cephalometric radiograph and conducting a detailed data comparison, it was found that the child had skeletal mandibular hypoplasia, a retruded mandibular position, abnormal hyoid bone position, and mentalis and labial muscle tension. There was skeletal maxillary protrusion, a narrow dental arch, and abnormal occlusion with a deep overbite and deep overjet. Treatment plan: Fixed orthodontics was used to address the root cause from the pathogenetic mechanism, extracting four first premolars to create space and performing dental compensation to allow the soft tissues to return to normal.

Treatment Outcomes:
After correction, the protrusive profile was significantly improved, achieving a perfect straight profile. The everted lips were also relaxed, and the chin position underwent anterior rotation. Proper alignment of the teeth helped restore airway function. With the anterior overjet returning to normal, the cutting efficiency was restored. The bilateral molar relationship achieved cusp-to-fossa occlusion, restoring normal chewing efficiency. A fundamental change was achieved in terms of both aesthetics and health!
