Dental implant placement after removal of defective porcelain crowns: A 14-year follow-up

Patient Profile:
The two upper front teeth had loose, defective porcelain crowns, and the abutment teeth were decayed. The patient sought treatment.

Treatment Plan:
For teeth #11 and #21, immediate implant placement after minimally invasive extraction, followed by bonding a temporary crown for transition. The permanent porcelain crowns were installed 3 months later.

Advantages of the Plan:

Immediate implant placement after extraction preserved the morphology of the gums and bone, preventing the collapse of alveolar bone height commonly seen during extraction healing. After implantation, a temporary crown was fitted to avoid social embarrassment. Nobel Biocare implants offer excellent biocompatibility and long-term results. Follow-up after 14 years showed stable implants and healthy periodontal tissue.
