Dr. Yuan Donghui won the Master of Empower Award at the AO Orthodontic Case Competition.

The 23rd Orthodontic Academic Conference of the Chinese Society of Stomatology Orthodontics Committee was successfully held at the Shanghai International Convention Centre from October 14 to 17, 2024. Hosted by the Orthodontics Committee of the Chinese Society of Stomatology, the annual conference was co-organized by Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Reed Huabo Exhibitions.

Professor Yuan Donghui, senior orthodontic specialist at Reborn Dental, won the highest award of the American Orthodontics (AO) Case Competition — the Master of Empower Award, in the Empower Master Camp Case Competition.

Introduction to the Empower Master Camp Case Competition

Starting from 2024, American Orthodontics (AO) China launched the case collection campaign for the Empower Master Camp. It solicits outstanding clinical orthodontic cases nationwide to promote technical exchanges, stimulate academic discussion, and summarise experience in applying AO bracket’s efficient orthodontic system.

After a 3-month case recruitment period, 104 doctors took part actively, with 207 cases meeting the submission requirements. Every case was blindly reviewed and assessed by multiple clinical experts. Under strict evaluation criteria, no more than 30% of submitted cases were selected as finalists. Doctors whose cases are recognised as outstanding will receive certification issued by American Orthodontics (AO).

Rating Levels and Evaluation Criteria
1) Elite of Empower: Elite Level. Complete case documentation with 1 to 2 outstanding cases.
2) Maven of Empower: Expert Level. Complete case documentation with 3 or more outstanding cases.
3) Master Of Empower: Master Level. Complete case documentation with qualified outstanding cases, and the participant is a long-term partner having over 10 years of collaboration with American Orthodontics (AO).
